Therapy
Individual therapy (sometimes called “psychotherapy” or “counseling”) is a process through which we work one-on-one to explore your feelings, beliefs, and behaviors, work through challenging or influential past experiences, identify aspects of your life that you would like to change, or better understand, and then set personal goals, and work toward your desired change.
Some of the issues that I have worked through with clients include:
· Anxiety
· Depression
· Family and Relationship Challenges
· Abuse/Survivors of Abuse (sexual, mental, physical, etc.)
· Adoption Issues
· Career Issues
· Hopelessness
· Forgiveness
· Grief and Loss
· Intrusive Thoughts
· Life Transitions
· Anger Management
· Self-Esteem/Self-Image
· Trauma
Modalities
Modalities are the types of therapy that a therapist utilizes to address certain issues that clients bring to therapy.
I use the following modalities
· DBT – Focuses on emotional regulation and looking at life from multiple perspectives
· EMDR – Used to reprocess traumatic memories and events and lessen the emotions associated with the experience
· CBT – Challenges the thinking that creates anxiety, low self esteem, and depression
· Solution-Focused Therapy – Utilized to work towards an answer when clients feel their swimming in confusion and feeling overwhelmed
· Guided Imagery and Music – Helps a client access their subconscious and tap into inner intelligence that they could not access using their conscious mind
